Ghostwriter,
television series co-produced by what was then the
Children's Television Workshop and the
BBC that aired on
PBS in the
United States from October
1992 to February
1995 and as
reruns for some time after. The series featured a group of teenagers in
New York City that solved mysteries with the help of a
ghost that communicated through writing. The show was intended to teach writing skills to young viewers.
The show halted production in 1995 due to a lack of funding. In 1997, CBS made a new version of the show, The New Ghostwriter Mysteries, but it was cancelled after one season due to low ratings. The original version ran from 1999-2003 on the cable/satellite network Noggin, and subsequently on The N when The N became a part time channel/programming block on Noggin.
